Following competitor feedback from 2012, we’ve reduced the race entry fee as to include a finishers medal and accurate chip timing. The race T shirt may be purchased as an optional extra for £9 when registering online for the race. We hope this will appeal to club runners and those competitors who may not wish to receive a t-shirt.
Starting at the same time as the Half Marathon, the 10km begins on the riverside in the shadow of Alnwick Castle. The course follows the River Aln as it meanders through the pastures of Hulne Park, passing the old Bothy that stands next to where Alnwick Abbey was once situated. Soon you’ll pass the ruins of Hulne Abbey sitting on the hill – used as Maid Marion’s home in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. At 5km you’ll reach a water station where the trail splits from the half marathon, as you cross the Iron Bridge to begin a short, but steep ascent before briefly joining the road that gently descends onto the trail that will take you along the riverside to the finish by the Castle.
